A Short Story
Good piece!
Thank you, sir!
Serialize. Serialize. Serialize. I want to read more about Jackie's cases! Excellent story, my friend!
Thanks, man. Means a lot. I suppose I can crank out a few more if people like Mr. Farrell. I appreciate you reading it.
Another amazing piece! Brady, you just don’t miss.
Agree with Frank, would love to see it serialised. Another great short story that showcases your talents in storytelling, character building, and moral (realistic) resolutions.
Thanks, man. Means the world. Fr fr no cap
Fucking outstanding!
It's like Sandman Slim meets The Ballad of Black Tom, sprinkled with a touch Lovecraft Country, and peppered with just a bit of Recursion.
Loved this part especially:
"Memory exists in the mind but also in the body...the body and mind that housed the memories were in turn housed in the world."
In so much as there exists anything that we could call mind, spirit, or soul, it evolved from and is continuous with our corporealness.
So, I have no idea what any of those references are haha. But thank you! Looks like I've got some reading (watching?) to do!
I appreciate you reading, as always.
Lol, sorry. All books. I'm not much of a watcher.
Sandman Slim by Richard Kadrey - kind of a gritty urban fantasy noir
The Ballad of Black Tom by Victor LaValle - a novella retelling of Lovecraft's "The Horror at Red Hook"
Lovecraft Country by Matt Ruff a really interesting mixture of horror, fantasy, and science fiction engaging with the Jim Crow South.
Recursion by Blake Crouch - is a fantastic sci-fi examination of memory.
So concludes my rant...sorry again 😂
Nah man no apologies. As I said in that essay yesterday, always looking to expand my neverending lists. Added to the TBR. Thanks!
Always happy to help with that!
🤝
I was expecting a gruesome twist at the end, I’m glad it had a happy sort of ending. Well done, man.
I traumatized you with my other work haha. Thanks for reading, man. I appreciate it.
The kids would call it "straight fiyah", but I'm no kidling so Imma just say is gud, u write moar.
Thank you. And aye aye.
Awesome story! Read it in two sittings and was riveted to the end. I too can’t wait for more of Jackie!
Thanks so much, man. Seems the vote is in and Mr. Farrell will have to make some repeat appearances.
Absolutely terrific and beautiful story. Have you gotten it, or tried to get it, published anywhere?
